A Solution Focus Conversation with Will Reed
Dec 7, 2021
Will Reed & Katalin Hankovszky
Introduced by Liselotte-Baeijaert
In this podcast, we hear Will Reed, a 19-year-old solution-focused practitioner, in conversation with Katalin (Kati) Hankovszky.
Will is an active and bright young man who talks with a lot of fire and enthusiasm about the relevance and need of Solution Focused skills for young people. With the support of Suzie Ingram and Tara Gretton, he experienced and then trained in Solution Focus at his school, Beechen Cliff, in Bath, England. For the SFiO case study on this school please link to: https://www.sfio.org/interaction/2020-1/focus-on-the-80/.
Will found Solution Focus so inspiring that he actively involved other young students so that they, in turn, benefited from the approach, discovered their strengths and inspired more young people. The impact was immense and helped bring the whole school community together!
In Will’s view, SF could be useful in different settings: in politics, social settings, in supporting people, community kind of projects, in helping everyone to express their opinion and respect other opinions. Solution Focus is a co-constructive instrument that brings more inclusion and future focus, and it implies genuine and active listening. It reduces disrespect, creates co-construction and builds community.
Will reaches out to the whole SF community to create more platforms for the future generation. He asks the community to listen to them, to encourage them to trust what they do and want, and to share what they find important.
As a final thought; SFiO is supporting a retreat week for young change-makers in Holland on 25-30 May 2023. Wouldn’t it be an excellent opportunity for Will (and his friends) to co-create that week with the organising team?
