Abstract

This article seeks to address some common questions and issues about SF approaches. First it examines some objec- tions raised to SF work and the interplay between SF and emotion. Cultural issues are mentioned and there is a discus- sion of when not to use SF methods. Theoretical perspectives about change and about the SF model are summarised. Links with cognitive-behavioural methods, motivational interview- ing, Appreciative Inquiry and Positive Psychology are considered.
