Creating New Narratives: The science & art of Solution Focused practice
Thursday 18 and Friday 19 May 2017, Beales Hotel, Hatfield AL10 9NG (just north of London)
Solution focused practice touches many people’s lives as a result of the quiet revolution in approaches to care, therapy, education, employment, coaching and the management of change. This is an innovative two-day event presented by the University of Hertfordshire and UKASFP. It brings together academics and scholars interested in research and developing Solution Focused (SF) work, and practitioners who are doing it, learning about it and discovering new ways to use it to help people in the field – healthcare, therapy, social work, education, coaching and a myriad of settings. The event will be held over two days, each with a different focus.
Thursday 18 May 2017: HESIAN Conference (with UKASFP) – focusing on research, new findings, academic work and developments in teaching, applying and understanding SF practice. The day will appeal to researchers, scholar-practitioners and academics interested in SF, narrative and related interactional and conversational therapies, as well as those developing ideas connecting practice with enactive and embodied cognition, discursive psychology, social construction and post-Wittgenstein developments.
Friday 19 May 2017: UKASFP Conference (with HESIAN) – focusing on new developments in practice, applications, case studies, practical tips and approaches. This day will appeal to practitioners, those keen on learning about innovations in practice, as well as the links between practice and evidence and demonstrating the effective outcomes that are being achieved by therapists, coaches and change agents using solution focused conversations in many walks of life.
These two days are bookable separately. However, we encourage delegates to attend both days (with a big discount in ticket price) to extend their experience and awareness: academics can get more connected with practitioners and practice, while practitioners can enjoy a couple of focused and well-curated days of thought-provoking discussion, learning and engagement.
Beales Hotel is a modern conference hotel with excellent facilities and parking. Located very close to the Hatfield Galleria, Beales offers quiet and stylish conference and accommodation rooms. Coffee, tea and a two-course lunch on each day are included in the conference price.
Accommodation at Beales is available for delegate booking at £129 per room per night including breakfast. There are alternative and more reasonably priced hotels within a short walk including Ramada Hatfield and Travelodge.
